Ponderings of a Middle-Aged Mom: The Extended Weekend is Over

Geez.

Monday's suck ass.

Seriously.

Especially after a long weekend.

It's always so hard to get Kaylee motivated to get up and get going.

And? This week is screwed up with THREE freaking half days!

YAY! <--Can you feel the sarcasm?

Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday.

For Parent/Teacher conferences.

Insert another sarcastic YAY here. . .

Sigh.

This year they are student lead conferences. Kaylee's teacher sent a note home saying as much. And that he would be available for questions but that the student would be doing the conference.

*raises hand*

Excuse me?

*waves hand wildly*

EXCUSE ME?

How, exactly, is it a parent/teacher conference if the teacher is not really having anything to do with the conference?

We are missing part of the equation there.

We have done student led conferences before but the teacher is always right there to put his/her two cents in also.

Kaylee's conference is on Thursday. We will see how it goes.

I don't know.

Maybe I am overreacting. It wouldn't be the first time.

Maybe I am just over-tired and grumpy.

What a great way to start off the week.

Something tells me, you really don't need to worry about Kaylee's conference. She does so well in school. Seanboy did student lead conferences in 6th grade. I was worried, buut proved there was no reason for concern. The kids were given much direction to prepare.

Nah. I'm not worried at all.

I know Kaylee is doing well.

I just think the teacher should be a part of the parent/teacher conference.

We've had the student led conferences before.

But the teacher was also in on it. This teacher will be there but not necessarily in on it because he will have more than one set of parents there at a time.

Kinda silly to me.

But it is Monday and I am grumpy. . .

This Fall was the first time we didn't go to a conference for our daughter. We briefly meet with her counselor and teachers about her 504 plan cuz she has ADD, but that's it. Weird.

That is weird.

We always have one in November.

It's the spring conferences that we end up not having.

I guess the teachers are lazy by then. Hee hee!
